Bargain Diet for the New Year

So if you are surfing around today, you are probably being inundated with ads for diet plans, pop-ups for diet plans, and other annoying little diet-related entrees  that seem to occur around the start of the New Year.

Most of these diet plans have a cost associated with them, but since this is a bargain site, I thought I would tell you about a diet plan that works for me and doesn't require you to join anything, pay anything to join or learn about, doesn't require supplements or any type of drug, and is actually pretty simple.

lose-20-pounds

I got the idea from the Four Hour Work Week blog from a post entitled "How to lose 20 lbs. of Fat in 30 Days...Without Doing Exercise".  You can take that link to Tim's blog to learn more about what to do to achieve this goal, but I thought I would share a little bit about how it's working for me below!  Hey that rhymed!

My day starts off with a breakfast somewhere between 9 and 10.  I have about a half cup of egg beaters with a little salsa, salt, and pepper mixed in.  Plus, just for fun, I cut off a little bit of hard cheese.

That carries me to around 12:30 or 1, when I have grilled chicken  and a packet of Green Giant Simply Steam vegetables.  There are several varieties of those available in my local stores, but I usually just pick the ones that have no sauce (to keep the carbs low).

For dinner, which is about 5:30, I have the same thing again, except substituting the grilled chicken for steak on two occasions.

The last part of the day is where I'm still not sure what to do on a regular basis.  I've been having a little tuna or more egg beaters at 10 pm just to carry me through the night, but my wife doesn't particularly like the smell of that, so I'm trying to think of something else.

I'm also walking 5 laps around the track at work during lunchtime.  Not really for weight loss, and I don't walk too fast.  But to clear my head a little and decompress from the morning.  I tend to get very stressed, and it shows if I don't walk a bit to calm down.

My cheat day, where I can eat what I want is Friday, which I picked basically because last Friday and today were both holidays, and it's not fun to be on a diet on a holiday!

So, has this diet worked for me?  Well, sure, I probably wouldn't be talking about it if it weren't!  Since December 22nd, I've lost 9.6 pounds, which amounts to a pound a day!  I'm actually about 5 days ahead of the 20 pounds in 30 days, so I may be going to fast.  But I've really only gotten hungry once or twice during the 9 days that was off the schedule I'm trying to keep.  I fixed that pretty quick with an apple.

So, take a look at the Four Hour Work Week blog, and learn a little more about this pretty good diet idea!  The owner of the blog is also the author of The Four Hour Work Week book, shown below, and I highly recommend it.  Not really for the diet plan.  I'm not even sure if it's in there.  But it's a great book to help you learn how to change your work first, play later lifestyle!
