The Canon EOS Rebel T3i DSLR camera is the replacement camera for all that was lacking in the Rebel T2i. There's not too much that was lacking, as you may know, considering the popularity of the T2i. The super high quality 18 megapixel CMOS sensor is still here in the Rebel T3i, as is the DIGIC 4 image processor. So what did Canon upgrade? The developments are in the use of the T3I and the LCD of course!
Because the Canon EOS Rebel T3i camera is designed for beginners to DSLR styled photography, the T3i needs to be ready to go for those who might not be ready to accept all of the techno whizzbangery associated with DSLR cameras. And so the scenes have been designed to allow the T3i owner to choose what they want without needing to resort to the manual to figure out just how to get the scene they are trying to capture.

The Canon Rebel T3i DSLR also has an upgraded LCD from its counterpart. It's not a larger LCD, because the T2i was large enough at 3 inches with a 3:2 aspect ration. But the LCD on the T3i does move about, or tilt on a swivel. It might take some getting used to if you've never used a vari-angle LCD because of the way you tilt the LCD away from the body of the camera, but having it comes in handy. Especially when attempting to take photographs from odd angles.

Many high-tech components provide unlimited possibilities of superb photography. The Canon Rebel T3i camera's sensor is an 18.0 Megapixel CMOS for high resolution and clear images. For speed, quality color, and sharp details, the camera has its DIGIC 4 Image Processor. While fully automatic, the camera has easy-to-use manual controls for focus and imaging. Then, a Clear View LCD screen allows for picture and video capturing at a variety of angles
The Canon EOS Rebel T3i has advanced technology on video clips with Movie Digital Zoom and Canon's HD for top quality. With Video Snapshot, clips can run together as a complete video compilation with no editing necessary, but an editing feature in the camera is available. Added functions for creative ambience, scene type or lighting allow for capture of photos with personal interpretation, and multiple editing options in-camera let photographer do all editing without the need of an outside computer.
When it comes to clear photography, lighting is naturally, highly important. An automatic EOS Scene Detection System assesses images lighting, colors and more. Enhancing the Canon EOS T3i's 9-point AF system, the camera has a 63-zone Dual-layer system that greatly increases quality in extremes of bright and dim lighting. In addition, an advanced flash feature makes night and dim light photography exceptionally clear.
Other features make the EOS Rebel T3i the easy-to-use photographing tool photographers love. For instance, using the camera's built-in HDMI port, video can be viewed on an HDTV. The HD video capture has been improved somewhat from its predecessor with built-in digital zoom being offered while recording (up to 10x zoom).

Some might say that the best upgrade for the Canon Rebel T3i is not really the camera, but the lens. The EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Type II lens is brand new to Canon and while it does not offer any upgrades in the way it is designed, Canon did redesign the housing of the lens. This might not sound like a good thing, but revising the lens body significantly reduced the cost of the lens unit to Canon. Costs that have now made the IS Type II lens more affordable for everyone. If you already own lenses that you would like to try with the T3i, the entire line of attachable Cannon lenses in the EF series is compatible with this camera. The many features and attachments help the overall photographer's experience using the EOS Rebel T3i.
If the Canon T2i DSLR camera was on your list of cameras to purchase, but couldn't spring for the money when it was introduced, check out the Canon EOS T3i instead. The lens kit is a bit cheaper, but still the same quality 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens, and you get a new and improved tilting LCD and better HD movie recording abilities. Because it's newer, the price may be the same as at the introduction of the previous model. But I'm almost sure that we can find you one a bit lower!
