The Cap Barbell Dumbbell set includes four each of the 2 1/2 pound weights and four each of the 5 pound weights. The handles themselves weigh five pounds each, so if you put all of the weights on, you've got a total of 40 pounds. The collars for security do add about another pound to the Cap Barbell system, but we think that's fine. They are threaded for extra security and the heaviness gives you an additional sense of lock on the Cap Barbell set you mix.
Our favorite dumbbell set, the Bowflex Selecttech 1090 is far more expensive than the Cap Barbell dumbbell set, but the high price of those can make them much less desirable than the Cap Barbell set. The only real item you might be missing with the Cap system is the convenience of quickly switching the weights on the dumbbells since it does take a little extra time to build these.
And of course the Selecttech's usually have a little more weight than the Cap Barbell Dumbbell set. However, as we said at the beginning, we're thinking the Cap Barbell Dumbbell set is well suited for those looking to follow through on those resolutions to get git this year. The low price and the ease of use makes the Cap Barbell Dumbbell 40-pound set the perfect way to work on your strength training!
