The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 digital camera is a 12.1 megapixel camera from a pretty new company to the field of cameras. Panasonic designed the G1 DMC for those who want a digital SLR camera, but don't want to spend the extra money to purchase a high quality SLR camera and don't want to have to learn the complexities of the digital SLR cameras. the DMC-G1 is a compact, almost mini camera, which makes it easy to carry and doesn't need much in the way of extra equipment to use it.

All of that being said, the G1 is an innovative and technologically advanced camera. To cut down on the bulk of the most SLR cameras, the G1 uses a "Full-time Live View Finder". No need for mirros in the G1 with this new Micro Four Thirds System.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 is available in black, blue, and red body colors. Expect to pay between $560 - $900 for new G1 cameras. Since the G1 is a relatiely new camera, prices for used DMC-G1's will probably not be much lower than the cheapest new G1.
