1969 Mustang Mach 1 Review and For Sale
Ford Motors began production of the Mustang Mach 1 in 1969 in order to compete with the sporty cars being produces by Chevrolet and Pontiac. 1969 was the defining year for the Ford Mustang. With 6 Mustang Models and over 9 variations of the V-8's, the options were endless to the younger buyers that Ford Motors was looking to attract.
The 1969 Mustang Mach 1 had a fastback roof and came with many performance enhancing options including: the 351 Windsor motor with either a two barrel or four barrel carburetor, a 390 CID four barrel, or even a 428 Cobra Jet engine. Other options included chrome exhaust tips and an air scoop on the hood that would shake when revving the engine giving it the nickname - "shaker hood."

The 1969 Mustang Mach 1 had many visually enhancing items including a matte black hood, hood pins, chrome gas cap, chrome wheels, and an optional spoiler. The interior had teak wood grain details and high backed sport bucket seats.
In 1969, the Performance Buyers Digest tested the Mach 1, putting it through rigorous tests for speed and endurance. The result of which is the breaking of no less than 295 records from the United States Auto Club.
The Ford Mustang Mach 1 outsold the base GT model so well, Ford discontinued the GT altogether in favor of the Mach 1 being their number one street performance Mustang where its original production ran till 1979.
