The Colnago C50 is one of the most sought after Colnago road bikes! So sought after is the C-50, that barely anyone has thought to write up a real specifications sheet on the bike. And maybe that's because the C-50 is no longer available for sale as a new bike. But since you can still purchase used, we are going to make an attempt here at FCB, because this bike is so important!
Let me start out by saying that the Colnago C-50, in my mind is the most beautiful road bike you can purchase. And I don't mean that because I want you to purchase one below. No, because most of what's sold below is just the frameset. But if you've never seen a C-50 with Campy Record-10 components and decked out with as much carbon fiber as can possibly be put on a bike, then you have really missed out! If you know where you can see one in person, you need to get over there right now.

So, what do I say about the Colnago C-50 besides my undying love for this beautiful bike? How about the fact that it has diamon-shaped cutouts for the chainstays which help keep the bike structurally stiff, but also reduce the vibration of the Colnago C-50. Or that the Colnago C-50 road bike is manufactured with high-modulus carbon fiber tubing from ATR. You know who ATR is, right? Yeah, they also produce carbon fiber components for Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche. So, if I owned one, I would constantly refer to it as my Ferrari on two wheels.
If there is one knock on the Colnago C-50 bike, it's the weight. it's a bit heavier than other bikes in its class, so if you do purchase a Colnago C-50 frameset, be sure to deck it out as much as possible with carbon fiber. You will want to reduce the weight of your bike, especially if you race, and carbon fiber components are the absolute best way to do it.

Colnago C-50 Road Bike Specifications
Since the local bike shop normally helps you decide what components to use, these are only examples of what we might like to see, or have seen in other Colnago C-50 road bikes.
* Component set is almost always strictly Campagnolo (Record 10 specifically).
* Prefereed rims can be Campagnolo Neutron, Mavic SSL SE, Campagnolo Eurus, or Fulcrum Racing wheels.
* Hubs and Cogs: Campagnolo Record
* Tires have been found to be Michelin Pro 2 Race tires, but also any lightweight carbon clinchers will work.
* Pedals are usually left to the purchaser, but Time Impact Titanium are preferred. No Shimano!
* Record 10 175mm carbon cranks
* Brakes should always be Campy Record 10 carbon. Again, no Shimano components.....
* Color schemes are up to you, but if purchasing used (and you will since the C50 is no longer sold new), look for a C-50 in the FLR paint scheme. Just make sure it's the wine red version and not the brown one. Sunburst and blue colors schemes are also preferred.
