If you would like to get your child more interested in reading, why not try the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series by Jeff Kinney?  My own children absolutely love the books! The story is really good and funny, but each page also mixes in one or two cartoon that the diary's "owner", Greg, has drawn.  When your children are laughing out loud and you know they are reading a book, life can be very good because the kids are getting smarter, having fun, and you get bonus points for being a great parent!
