Felt F5 Road Bike Sale
Pin It
We love the look and feel of the latest Felt 5-series bikes, but the one (yes the 1) we truly want amazingly would cost more than the car I'm currently driving. So it's out, but there is a solution for those of us looking for a bargain: the Felt F5 road bike. It has the same lightweight frame as most of the higher end Felt F-series, and almost as lightweight as the top end bike. And really the only difference otherwise in purchasing a Felt F5 road bike over the higher end (other than the price) are the components used to build the bike.
A fully built Felt F5 road bike does in fact use the Shimano 105 series for the components. Are these components bad, leaving you as if you got a raw deal? No they aren't and are in fact quite capable in any daily routine or for the weekend warrior who enters a race or two and plans on winning.

If buying a bike like the Felt F5 spec'd out with Shimano 105 comps does leave you feeling like you are getting less than you should, then consider purchasing the Felt F5 frame only. This way you can deck it out to your liking. If you want SRAM Red, then feel free to put those on this bike. If you don't like Mavic CXP-22S rims, then put what you like on the bike. In effect, you can make the Felt F5 road bike as light as you want, or as strong as you like, depending upon your activities.
This won't take away from the frame at all and the strength of the carbon frame. The Felt F5 bike doesn't suffer at all in a frame that gives too much. In fact, Felt F-series bikes have some of the stiffest frames available, making it that much easier to become King of Hill. If you've done your research, you may have found that a lot of the lower priced carbon frames tend to have too much flex in the bottom bracket. But so far, we've only found that to be the case in carbon frame road bikes closer to the $1,000 level. Those like the Felt F5, which are priced above $2,000 seem to respond much better with less give; especially on the hills.
The Shimano 105 components should give away that the F5 is meant for riders who are entry level to carbon frames. Not entry level, as in have never ridden a bike before, but for those who have been riding other materials, but want to move into a lighter frame.
But with the ability of the Felt F5 road bike to go from a cadillac to a ferrari, comps-wise, we think that this bike can be a valuable asset for many, many years to come! We feel that the Felt F5 is priced just right for the road bike racer who needs to keep costs down yet wants the best value for their money.
Note: the Felt F5 road bikes shown here are of course in slightly used to new condition. If you would like a brand new F5 frame or bike, please do see your local bike shop for fitting, proper adjustment, and maybe for a complimentary test ride!
