The Fujifilm FinePix F300EXR Digital Camera is a nice addition to the Fujifilm lineup of point and shoot digital cameras. The F300EXR replaced the F200EXR camera in Fujifilm's lineup of higher quality compact cameras, and added something really special that other compact cameras just don't have as of yet. The availability of phase detection autofocus on the FinePix F300EXR camera gives Fujifilm a chance to show how fast a compact camera can really be, as far as focus goes, and lets those of us familiar with the quick focus of a DSLR judge how fast phase detection autofocus really is.
Without getting too detailed on how phase detection works, light is captured by the sensor just from certain sections of the lens to create two images. These images are quickly compared by the camera to determine what the focal point should be. The F300EXR camera is rated at being able to autofocus in as little as a 16th of a second, which is by far quicker than other comparable compact cameras which use contrast detection instead.

The resolution of the Fujifilm FinePix F300EXR Digital Camera is a very high although not overwhelming at 12.0 megapixels. The 12 mexapixel limitation is helped by the ISO range of 100 to 12800. It also has a feature called intelligent image stabilization. This feature ensures that the pictures that are taken with it will never turn out blurry. This feature is especially helpful for pictures that are taken in low light settings. Along with the intelligent image stabilization, this camera also comes with a feature called super intelligent flash. This flash automatically adjusts its intensity level depending on the light level of the scene. This ensures that the pictures to not become washed out by too much flash or look dim with not enough flash.

Those interested in recording video with their digital cameras will be happy to note that the FinePix F300EXR camera is capable of recording in High Def, in up to 720p resolution. Playback of the videos can be via the camera itself, or by recording the movies to an SDHC card and playing on another device. But if you choose to playback via the camera, a mini HDMI port is built in for connectivity to any HDTV or home theater device that supports HDMI.
The Fujifilm FinePix F300EXR Digital Camera has many more features that help it stand out. One nice feature is its ability to perform multi-frame composition. This is very useful for a wide landscape that will not fit in one frame. Multi-frame composition allows users to capture a panoramic view over several frames that the camera will blend together into one beautiful shot. The camera comes with an EXR auto mode that allows for very high speed auto focus and optimization for face detection. This ensures that the faces of the subjects in a shot are always given priority for exposure and focus in EXR auto mode.

An enormous 3” LCD screen is a nice asset on the Fujifilm FinePix F300EXR Digital Camera. It makes it very easy to see if the shot looks good before taking it, as well as allows easy reviewing of shots already taken with the camera. It has a 15X optical zoom lens that can produce shots ranging from 24-360mm. It also has the capacity to shoot HD video in 720p resolution.
There are a few issues with the Fujifilm FinePix F300EXR, but really only become apparent according to how much of a power user of cameras you might be. The one item that really sticks out with the F300EXR is it's lack of support for RAW image files. JPEG, while good to great for everyday photography, just doesn't capture as good a shot as a RAW image file can, making the F300EXR a rather boring camera for those photographers who are at a more professional level. For those of us still in the novice or amateur levels of photography, the image quality should be comparable to what we can achieve regardless of the image format.
The flash on the Fujifilm FinePix F300EXR also bugs users a bit. It's always up, no matter if in use or not. It seems that the flash should stay closed when not in use, but there it is, always in popped-up mode.
The Fujifilm Finepix F300EXR digital camera, when all said and done, offers a lot of great features and sells for a very reasonable price. Fujifilm put the F300EXR on the market to show just how fast a compact camera can be without losing too many of the other features that compact camera buyers expect to find in similarly sized and similarly price cameras. The F300EXR wasn't made for professionals, but for those who want a super fast camera at a fairly inexpensive price.
