How it manages to create 3D images and video is not unlike the large commercial cameras, but in a much smaller format of course. And because you won't always want 3D photos and video, the Fujifilm Finepix W3 camera also makes it easy to switch between 2D and 3D format. The Fujifilm Finepix W3 camera works mostly like the moreexpensive 3D cameras. There are two sensors on the front of the camera which take concurrent photos but each from a different line of site. Those pictures blend to create one 3d photo. The same mechanism works to create 3D video except that it creates frames to blend instead of just one individual shot. These lenses attempt to create or duplicate a shot as close to what our eyes would see in real time.

One of the problems with 3D cameras has been in the viewing of the photos and video. My first thought when researching this product was "do I need a 3D television to see the 3D photos I take"? Well it would help, especially if you want to watch them on a large scale, but the Fujifilm W3 camera's touchscreen can display the 3D content! Glasses are not needed to view your content on the camera, which is a plus. Especially when you want to see your shots right after they've been taken.
So 3D might just be a "neat" or "cool" feature, but you might not want all of your photos to be 3D. The Fujifilm W3 camera makes it east to switch between 2D and 3D. There is a small yet convenient button on the lower right of the back of the camera. Press it and you are instantly switched! It couldn't be easier, so if you find that your subjects are moving too quick for 3D, just switch to 2D and keep shooting!
What I like best about the Fujifilm W3 really isn't about 3D, but the feature wouldn't be available if it wasn't a 3D camera. Because there are two lenses, the W3 can serve to create two pictures in 2d mode, allowing the photographer the chance at creating two unique shots of the same scene. This means that you could zoom in tighter on one lens and pick the better shot. The photographer can also pick different ISO or sensitivity levels for each lens. With the Finepix W3 camera, missing the shot because of an incorrect ISO setting never has to happen again!
The Fujifilm Finepix W3 camera could be a perfect camera to step into 3D photography and video without having to go all the way in and losing 2D capabilities. The price for the Finepix W3 camera has recently been reduced considerably, making it far easier for most to try out this new technology!
