While the Honda Magna itself was a great entry into the cruiser motorcycle market in 1983, a specifc model, the Magna v65 motorcycle, was the real star of the Magna line. During the Magna v65 motorcycle's manufacturing run in the late 1980's, it was able to post the fastest production time 5 times in a row, even though it was only built between 1983-86! In fact, the best posted standing quarter mile for the 1983 v65 was 10.75 seconds at a max speed of 126 mph. So, if you were an owner of the Honda Magna v65 between the years of 1985 and 1989, you could say that no motorcycle with factory specs was faster than you on the road.

And while it was a fast production motorcycle, the Magna v65 motorcycle also lived up to its cruiser mentality. Honda built the Honda with the commuter in mind so they designed the motorcycle to be quick feeling to the rider, but also comfortable. The Magna motorcycles did have a reputation for being a little harsh on the rider for longer, multi-state rides, but that opinion seemed to be in contention based upon the rider's build and frame.

Honda also built quality components into the Magna v65 cruiser, as you would expect from the company. A hydraulic clutch was designed to modulate the power into the shaft which coupled with the one direction sprag clutch, helped keep the rear tire on the ground during shifts. The front fork was designed with anti-dive valves to keep the motorcycle balanced at brake time. And the transmission was designed with overdrive in the final gear to quiet the engine noise at the top speeds.

As you can see above, the Honda Magna V65 motorcycle still sells at a higher price than most motorcycles of the time period. However, the history of the motorcycle as the fastest production motorcycle in the world has lead classic motorcycle enthusiasts to create a market for the motorcycle and thus the higher prices.  So if you find the perfect Magna V65 for sale for YOU, it might just be priced a little higher than you expected.

* The Magna v65 (officially called the VF 1100C) was built stock with a liquid cooled four stroke four cylinder engine turned 90 degrees for vibration damping.
* The 1983 model had a maximum horsepower of 116 which maxed at 7500 rpm's.
* Transmissions for the v65 was shaft driven and 6 speed, just like it's little brother, the v45.
* Adjustable rear suspension with 105mm of travel.
* Air assisted front suspension on 41 mm forks with 150 mm of travel.
* Front and rear brakes were disc brakes with two piston calipers.
