The really interesting aspect of a Keurig coffee brewer, like the Keurig B70 Platinum, is really the different types of coffee flavors, cocoa, or tea that you can brew in just 4 minutes and then make another different variety right after. With over 200 flavors to pick from, it's almost an afterthought as to which of the brewers one might want to purchase. You can go bargain basement on the pricing and just purchase a Keurig that brews cup after cup, but think it through for a minute. We're purchasing a coffeemaker that is supposed to be very convenient, so I think the one that gives the most convenience is the proper one to purchase.

The Keurig B70 Platinum accepts all of the K-cup varieties out today. It has too: the K-cup is standardized, so whichever flavors you are interested in, you can be sure that the B70 will brew it for you. And there's no real difference in a cup brewed in the Keurig B70 as compared to the other brewers. The brew time is standardized to make the flavors the same.

What is different are the features in the Keurig B70 Platinum brewer, and that's where our review of the B70 will stand. The cheaper brewers normally only brew a certain amount of ounces The B70 lets you choose 5 different sizes: 4 ounces up to 12 ounces (around the size of a Tall at Starbucks). However, the reservoir lets you put in much more than that, 60 ounces in fact, so that it doesn't have to be refilled for the other people in the house or office to get their fix (or a second serving for yourself).

When it is time to refill the reservoir on the Keurig B70 Platinum, just remove it from the rest of the machine, fill it, and replace it. To help seat it properly, the machine has a blue back light on the machine, which is nice, but it does give it a nice complementary look as well.

The digital readout or LCD on the Keurig B70 Platinum is also backlit with blue and is the real source of how this machine is different from the cheaper machines. Using the LCD, the owner of the B70 can program it to begin brewing at a specified time, which means you can wake up to the smell of coffee if you choose. And frankly that's the benefit that I want out of a convenience appliance. If it can do the work without causing me to wait on it, then I'm sold.

Temperature can also be controlled with the LCD, but isn't necessarily just for programming a brew for the future. For those not familiar with temperature control and coffee, moving the temperature between 187 degrees and 192 degrees might not seem like much, but just this slight amount of change can affect just how robust your coffee might be.

To finish off our review of the Keurig B70 Platinum, the unit is almost completely self cleaning. You will of course have to start the cleaning process, but once started, the machine can do pretty much everything except wipe clean the drip tray and the water reservoir.

The Keurig B70 Platinum Home Brewing System is typically sold with a 60 K-cup package for free, and that's really what got my interest in the B70 as my first personal Keurig. The Keurig B70 isn't a cheap machine, but adding $60 worth of K-cups for free certainly does put the brewing system very close to the bargain side of these fantastic little single serving brewers!
