As far as sound goes, the Maxell M&M earbuds are about what you expect from a pair of $10 headphones. The earbuds try to balance out the bass, mids, and highs by not being too overbearing in any of those areas. So standard is the rule of thumb with these earbuds. The M&M earbuds are also much better, sound-wise, at lower volumes. Lower volumes have a far crisper sound than higher volumes, but that's honestly not bad. The M&M earbuds do fit quite well into the ear, and actually block a lot of the ambient noise surrounding whomever wears the earbuds. So playing music or sounds at a high volume level isn't really necessary. The Maxell M&M earbuds are also more likely to be worn by children, and the uneven high volume might just keep them from playing their music too loudly, and thus harming their ears. So the M&M earbuds might actually have a safety benefit in not working as well in high volume!
The cables for the Maxell M&M earbuds match the housing color, and are nice and long at 4 feet. The package includes two sizes of ear tips to give you a choice to find the best fit for your own ears. If the ear tips included do not fit comfortably in your own ears, you should be able to find more sizes that will fit the Maxell M&M earbuds at your local Wal-Mart or Best Buy.
The Maxell M&M ear buds are designed to let the owner show their appreciation for the M&M candy, or for the collector to add yet another M&M candy theme to their growing collection. For the collector, even the packaging for the Maxell M&M earbuds will make a nice addition since it looks like a yellow M&M peanuts candy bag.
