What does set the Nikon L100 apart from other advanced point-and-shoot cameras is the 15x wide angle optical zoom. With a measurement of 28mm to 420 millimeters, the Nikon L100 can focus in from a little over a foot away (macro is .4 inches) to practically as far as you want! With just about any camera, the further away your focus, the more likely you are to have blurring and fuzzy photos, but Nikon has attempted to rectify that issue in the L100. The 4 way VR image stabilization system moves the image sensor around during shooting to compensate for any hand shake that the camera can pick up. The L100 may also adjust the ISO of the camera and the shutter speed to compensate for fast moving objects within the focus. As I said, it's all automatic, to help the new photographer become a better photographer!

When the first Nikon Coolpix L100 digital cameras were made available, there was no electronic viewfinder. That issue has since been corrected so that you now have both the electronic VF and a 3" LCD screen so that you can use the viewer that is most comfortable to you.

With so many features that are automatic, and very few that are manual, we can seriously only recommend the Nikon Coolpix L100 digital camera to beginning photographers or for just those wanting an easy and simple camera with the ability to zoom in very close to subjects. Experienced photographers, those who are either already in DSLR cameras or will soon be, won't like the fact that the L100 takes care of so many functions for you. On the other hand, if manually adjusting settings on the camera just becomes a tedious task, and you want a camera that just lets you take photos, you may instead rethink looking into purchasing your own Nikon L100 camera.
