The Nikon D700 Digital SLR Camera is the successor to the very popular Nikon D300, and of course the features that made the D300 popular have been incorporated into the D700 model and then some! However, most tend to review the Nikon D700 against the more expensive Nikon D3.
Yes, the D3 is far more expensive than the D700, but there are some similarities that make the Nikon D700 worth a look, especially if you are on a budget! The Nikon D700 give the user a more compact camera, so it's lighter than the D3. And the resolution on the Nikon D700 is 12.1, which is half that of the D3. However, the photos created by the Nikon D700 are an almost noise-free product giving the impression of having a higher resolution than you do! Helping the clarity of the pictures is better ISO performance you'll see from the Nikon D700 as opposed to the D300 camera.

As far as ISO goes, the Nikon D700 camera will take shots up to the 12800 ISO while still providing a mostly noise free shot. It does included a 25600 ISO setting, just like the D3, but we could not find any other reviewers that would recommend a setting that high.

The speed of the Nikon D700 DSLR camera is also a strong suit for this model. Power on is very quick so you can conserve power until the moment you need your camera to perform. Shutter speed is also comparable to the D3 camera with very little noticeable shutter lag with the ability to get 5 frames in under a second shot. Other reviewers have seen the frame rate jump to 8 frames per second when the Nikon D700 is used with the optional battery grip.
While you can purchase the Nikon D700 camera as "body only", most new packages do include a high quality lens. The Nikkor 5x optical zoom lens is rated as 24-120mm lens and is an F mount lens. If your camera does not include a lens, any Nikkor type G or F AF lens should work, but you should check the support site for compatibility with other lenses.
The lens is of superior quality and the result is that it gives better quality pictures. It also features Nikons protected glass feature. Some of the main features are as follows.
