The Olympus PEN E-PL1 digital camera performs quite well and takes very clear photographs. The six art filters work well to help the users create the perfect backgrounds and scenes for their photographs. The camera has a face detection function so that users can point the camera and put the faces into the boxes that appear on the display screen. The only problem some people will run into is that the lens can become dirty quite easily especially if the camera is being used frequently. It is important to try and clean the lens after every use to ensure that it is as clean as possible. When using the tripod be careful and make sure that the camera is correctly secured on the tripod or it will topple over.

Features of the Olympus PEN E-PL1
Those of you who interchange between photos and video frequently will like the "direct button" on the E-PL1. Olympus has built into the back of the camera a single red button to allow you to instantly begin recording video, even if you had planned on a photo. Press the button and you are recording. Press it again, and you are ready for photos!
Nineteen different modes are available, depending on what type of scene you are capturing. Anything from sunsets to fireworks, night time to noon, you can get the right photo every time by just picking the scene first.
Panorama features of the PEN-EPL1 allow the user to put 3 pictures together to create a quick panorama scene, or use the included Olympus software to create a panorama of up to 10 images quickly and easily.
Professional photographers may want to hook up an external flash with the PEN E-PL1, but with the new pop-up flash, you don't have to. Use the built-in flash, a first for the PEN camera style to brighten the scene instantly in low light, or to remove red-eye from your subjects.
Pros and Cons
The best things about the Olympus PEN E-PL1 camera are the lenses, the HD video recording function, face detection feature, and the in camera editing function. The videos that are recorded are very clear if the lighting is sufficient. When video recording at night, there needs to be light sources or the video will not be able to be viewed well. The negative aspects to this digital camera are that the battery does tend to die quickly. The camera can take multiple blurry pictures if the button is held down for too long. This camera is a good value and performs very well. It is worth the expenses and has many great features and accessories.
