The Panasonic DMP-BD60's BD Live and BonusView let you connect to the Internet for bonus features, game and studio extras for already-released movies. Supported formats include DVD, CD, AVCHD, MPEG2, MP3 and JPEG. Connectivity includes a slot for SD memory card and USB. The DMP-BD60 utilizes 1080p up-conversion so that content recorded in the 480i/p or 720p format will be viewed at 1080p picture quality.
A past known issue with some Blu-ray discs is that they would randomly freeze. Panasonic’s firmware upgrade 2.2, which is available with the DMP-BD60 blu ray player, appears to correct this in older machines, and newer ones, like the DMP-BD60, will ship with the upgrade. Firmware updates beginning with 2.0 have also increased the disk load speed of the device by as much as twenty percent.
The Panasonic DMP-BD60 is easy to set up, compact and convenient. At 4.5 stars out of a possible 5, the majority of owners of the DMP-BD60 are very pleased with the overall quality. Sound quality is good, and though the response time is somewhat slow as compared to newer models, it isn’t enough to bring down the overall high rating. A common complaint is the lack of access to Netflix.
