A new camera from Panasonic, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 12.1 MP Interchangeable Lens Camera, is a strong competitor in the Digital SLR field and the Micro Four-Thirds line of cameras. The Lumix DMC-G2 is the successor to the popular Lumix DMC-G1 and touts newer and enhanced features.

What I really like about the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 camera is the 3 inch touch-screen LCD Live View and Contrast AF System. This unique technology allows the photographer to set shooting, auto focus, record video and set aperture/shutter speed by simply pressing interactive keys on the LCD monitor. I can also seamlessly slide between images and videos. The LCD Live View and Contrast AF System features a high-contrast display so I never have to squint in order to see details in my photos.

The Lumix DMC-G2 12.1 MP Interchangeable Lens Camera also has three different modes: My Color Mode, Peripheral Defocus Mode and Motion Picture P Mode. Motion Picture P mode really helps by allowing the aperture to adjust itself automatically without any work when recording HD video. My Color Mode allows the photographer to choose color effects for your photos and movies. This particular feature is great when a photographer needs to set a consistent type of color mood throughout his or her photos. The Peripheral Defucus Mode causes the camera to focus automatically on the subject and defocus on distant objects. There is also a Face Recognition function that comes in handy when making portraits and recoding videos of people.
