The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G3 is a third-generation mirrorless digital camera, continuing Panasonic's dominance in the field and building upon the success of the G1 and G2. The first item you may notice with the Lumix G3 is that the body of the camera is considerably smaller than it's predecessors. Panasonic chose to reduce the size of the body to complement the style of the consumer they think will enjoy this camera more. Basically, those looking for DSLR quality photos without the hassle of using the higher-end cameras.
You will also notice that the LCD is now a touchscreen. Most cameras are going toward the touchscreen, so it's not that big of a stretch to move to this, but the fact that it's available is worth noting.
And finally, this is the first Panasonic micro four-thirds capable of producing 3D quality photos. You will need a special lens for 3D, but once you have that in place, the Panasonic Lumix G3 is ready for this next level of photography experimentation.

It comes with a number of auto focus features, including tracking autofocus while taking video. Speaking of video, one of the G3's main improvements over the G2 is the increase in video quality to 1080/60i.
Another major improvement for the Lumix G3 camera is a user-friendly touch-screen, which allows for easier menu navigation and is more intuitive to newer users. The G3 is also recommended to a wider range of consumers as compared to the G2; a few of the features have been removed for the next generation, presumably to allow for a lower cost as well as appealing to a less technical audience.

Other advantageous features include a plethora of autofocus features not mentioned above- pinpoint autofocus anywhere in the picture frame; subject autofocus , and lastly, tracking autofocus during video shooting. The touch screen makes pinpoint use of the autofocus extremely easy and accurate.
The Lumix DMC-G3 is very compact and more ergonomically designed for your hands than previous generations' models. The screen is a 460k dot articulated LCD, and has a 1.44 dot-equivalent viewfinder. When shooting video, the advanced noise reduction system with Panasonic's new live MOS sensor is a great aid in audio playback quality.
This camera is also one of the world's smallest system cameras, and the "light-speed AF (autofocus)" is claimed to be the fastest in the market. It comes with included software for easy image viewing, editing, and sharing, as well as an excellent playback system. The camera's Intelligent D-range control allows for casual photos to be turned great, and the Panasonic Lumix G3 boasts three dimensional shooting capability as well as a three dimensional viewing system.
Its capabilities can also be expanded and improved with a wide range of optional accessories. Overall, the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G3 is a great camera, especially for photographers looking for a good balance between ease of use, price, and quality.

This review of the Panasonic Lumix G3 camera was written by a guest reviewer, and not one of our own. We're taking a bit of a digital break this week, but will be back soon to provide more in-depth information on this and the other cameras we list this week!
