As an older model camera, the Panasonic Lumix FZ28 camera still offers enough top of the line features to warrant reviewing before deciding upon a camera purchase! Available in a silver or black body, the Panasonic Lumix FZ28 digital camera features 10.1 megapixel resolution using a CCD sensor to capture top quality photos each time you shoot. Just like other cameras above the 10 MP range, the Lumix FZ28 camera creates sharp enough photos that you can enlarge the photos to poster-size without any noticeable degradation in quality.
Helping the Panasonic Lumix FZ28 digital camera create such wonderful photos is the Leica lens. Leica is probably the highest quality lens you can purchase on a digital point and shoot camera, but this particular Leica is a little bit more than just typical. The Leica is a 27 millimeter lens but built as a wide-angle lens to capture more area than the typical point and shoot camera can offer. And with the extremely large 18x optical zoom, you can really close in on any subject yet still get as much of the subject as you want in your photos.

Since the Panasonic Lumix FZ28 camera is a few years old, you might not expect that it would be able to produce HD video, since this is a feature more typically found on newer models (such as the newer version of the FZ28...the FZ35). However, you would be wrong because the FZ28 digital camera can capture HD video in 720p format. With recording up to 30 frames per second which enables the 720p video to look like high definition quality without any choppiness to the video.

The Panasonic FZ28 is designed to help the new photographer be a great photographer with the Quick AF system. This system allows the camera to instantly focus on the main subject in the LCD just by pointing the FZ28 lens toward the subject. If you're comfortable with the shot, then you can easily just snap the photo or start recording, and the Quick AF auto focus will create very clear photos for you. For the more experience photographer, Panasonic designed the Lumix FZ28 so that you can quickly turn off the auto focus system and manually adjust the focus yourself. Aperture and shutter can also be manipulated via the menu system (ala SLR cameras), or leave the camera to determine the best settings for those options as well.
The Panasonic Lumix FZ28 camera is equipped with a 2.7" LCD display for holding the camera at any distance from your eyes for a more comfortable shot. Mega O.I.S. helps in this area with sensors to detect and compensate for hand shake, and fixing any blurring due to any unsteadiness. Intelligent exposure and face detection will also benefit from Mega O.I.S. by being better able to detect how bright or dark the environment is, and correct with backlighting. You'll also find that the electronic viewfinder is comfortable enough to use when you want to minimize hand shake yourself, such as in the extreme close-ups that the 18x zoom lens (486 millimeter) provides.
If you want a newer camera with a higher resolution, then the big brother of the FZ28, the Lumix FZ35, does go to 12.1 megapixels and does provide just a little bit more in functions for the inexperienced photographer. And frankly, 10 megapixels to 12.1 megapixels really isn't a large jump for most photographers to notice. Couple that with both cameras having 720p HD video capabilities, and there's really no reason to jump to the FZ35 if you can get a good deal on the older model. Because we are a "find cheap bargains" website, if we can get it cheaper with the same functions, we'll pick the cheaper Panasonic Lumix FZ28 digital camera!
