The Samsung ST100 digital camera features two LCD screens: one on the back, as normal, but also one in the front! The front facing LCD is 1.8" in width, which is just right for a hand held self portrait, allowing the photographer to line up the shot and creating a picture that should be just as good as if you were on the other side of the camera. Once you have the photo, It's easy to retrieve the photo back into the main 3.5" LCD display to check for any issues with the shot. Just use the LCD as a touch screen to find the photos you want to review!

The Samsung ST100 digital camera is meant to be a social camera, or more specifically, a camera that allows the owner to provide a better glimpse into the photographer's world, with them actually in it. Personally, I've had plenty of instances where I wanted to take self portraits with a neat landscape or item in the background, but I usually just mess it up or have to try 4-5 times before getting it right. There are also times when you want a whole group of people in a shot, but someone always gets left out because they are behind the camera. Samsung wants to fix that issue with the ST100 camera.

The dual LCD's aren't the only outstanding feature of the Samsung ST100 camera. The camera is designed around a 5x optical zoom, wide angle lens for capturing much more than just close-ups and self portraits. The CCD sensor also provides an extremely high 14.2 megapixel resolution for extremely clear and sharp photos in normal light.

We do wish the Samsung ST100 digital camera had a little more depth in its ISO range of 100 to 3200. The camera functions absolutely brilliantly in normal light, all the way up to a dusk like atmosphere. But in extreme low light instances, you'll find that the pictures created by the Samsung ST100 camera are a bit more noisy that you might like. However, this low light issue is almost always the case in a compact camera, an d one should probably go up to DSLR camera to remove the low light limitations.

The Samsung ST100 camera doesn't leave you without video, as it's fully capable of producing almost top notch content. Recording at 720p resolution and 30 frames per second, the ST100 can record up to 20 minutes of video before needing to pause to start another video file.

Internal storage for the Samsung ST100 camera is just 30 Megabytes, which is fine to get you started. However, we recommend purchasing additional micro SDHC cards for any extended use, and especially for video recording. Micro SD and SDHC are both compatible with the camera, but Micro SDHC cards can record around 8Gb of data on the Samsung ST100, but only 2Gb on a standard micro SD card. So that's why we recommend SDHC.

While the Samsung ST100 digital camera is obviously a camera that can be used to photograph your world with you in it, the options available to the camera are still just as good and even better than other compact digital cameras. For the added benefit of having a second LCD on the camera, without a large increase in the price, we don't see why you shouldn't consider the Samsung ST100 digital camera as your next compact camera!
