On just about any day, I would gladly point you in the direction of a real road bike or mountain bike for exercise, but I know that it's just not feasible to exercise on a bike when you want to. In our area, the sun doesn't really show up until time for me to leave for work, and it's already gone by the time I start home. And then there's the weather: cold and/or raining every other day. And it can get much worse in other locations. And that's why I can absolutely recommend the Schwinn 120 Upright exercise bike for those days when a real bike just isn't available!

The Schwinn 120 Upright exercise bike mimics the feel of riding a real road bike. Not in the size of the bike's frame, though, as that's more compact than a typical bike (more on that later). But in the weight of flywheel and the way this weight corresponds to the pedals. The 13-pound flywheel, while obviously heavier than a high quality road wheel, provides just the right amount of resistance to mimic what you would feel in just starting out on a road bike.

With the 13 pound flywheel providing just the amount of resistance from the get-go, the only option really needed from you once getting the Schwinn 120 upright exercise bike put together is to place the bike seat in the spot that makes it comfortable for you to ride.
The handlebars on the Schwinn 120 are in a more upright position than any typical road bike and at first glance maybe that's not so good. But in exercising, I really don't want to be down in the handlebars pumping on the pedals. Instead, I would much prefer to just use the handlebars as a stability platform, and that's what these bars serve in purpose.
The handlebars also provide a quick check of the heart with the integrated heart rate monitor on each side of the Schwinn 120 upright bike's handlebar. The monitor is set at the most comfortable spot on the bar so it doesn't annoy or feel uncomfortable to run the quick check of your rate.
The last major feature of the Schwinn 120 upright exercise bike is of course the LCD screen. Yes, it does look a bit small just at a glance, and it probably is a bit smaller than you are used to using at your local gym. But the LCD screen is full of all the detail you normally need when riding an exercise bike (distance, time, calories, heart rate, speed). Plus the screen also displays in real time which part of one of the 6 courses you are on with the standard right to left scroll. All of that information coupled with the choice of 8 different workout programs should leave you with plenty of value in this small but effective LCD screen.
For additional comfort, the display includes a reading rack to put your favorite book or Kindle upon for extra entertainment while riding. There are also integrated speakers in the unit for playing your MP3 player audio instead of having to use headphones. And finally, a water bottle holder just below the console in a convenient location. Oh, I almost forgot the fan to keep you cool on the longer workouts.
The Schwinn 120 upright exercise bike is selling right now at a pretty substantial discount, considering this is the peak time period for exercise equipment sales. The Schwinn 120 does a great job of simulating real road cycling in a fairly compact and bargain priced unit!
