The Sennheiser PXC 250 II headphones are different in that they will cancel up to 80% of ambient sounds so those annoying talkers in the cubicle next to you will be silenced, but you should be able to hear the airline call your flight for boarding. The noise cancellation feature for the Sennheiser PXC 250 II headphones is provided by the power of a single AAA battery. This battery has been tested in continuous use for up to 50 hours before the noise cancellation stops functioning. Except in the worst possible layover scenario, the single battery for the Sennheiser PXC 250 II's should be able to last as long as you need it to. I am not that seasoned of a traveler, but I've never worn my noise cancellation headphones for an entire travel itinerary, so 50 hours sounds wonderful to me. If you several flights back-to-back, it would probably be a good idea to carry a couple of extra batteries with you just in case.

As far as size is concerned, the Sennheiser PXC 250 II headphones are very light weight compared to other noise cancelling earphones. Sennheiser designed the PXC 250's specifically for travelers who want their headphones to take up as little weight and room as possible, so they also designed the headphones to fold into themselves as well as to fold flat. The headband of the PXC 250 headphones is reinforced with a steel band which should help with the life span of the headphones. Because there are so many joints to the Sennheiser PXC 250 headphones, they are slightly more at risk for accidental breakage.

The Sennheiser PXC 250 II headphones are designed more for music playback than their contemporaries at Bose. While the main purpose of a set of high-priced Bose headphones is to cancel all noise, Sennheiser attempts to provide a more valuable listening experience. The Sennheiser PXC 250 II headphones will absolutely work in noise cancellation mode without music being played through the headphones, but they work much better when audio is provided. The Sennheiser PXC 250 II are swayed slightly into providing a more pronounced bass quality than mids or highs, but the sound provided by the PXC 250 headphones do a great job of reproducing your music or audiobooks in a sound grade that is much better than a standard set of headphones.

If you are searching for a high quality set of noise cancellation headphones, but at a far cheaper price than the Bose, try out a set of Sennheiser PXC 250 II headphones. Letting 20% of ambient sound in to your ears while providing a block for the more annoying noises and hums lets you focus on your world while staying in tune with what is going on around you while wearing these headphones! And savings $200 while doing so makes the Sennheiser PXC 250 II headphones an even more attractive noise cancellation option.
