It's the final day allowed to file your tax returns for 2010 in the USA, so you'd better get on it! If you've waited this long, I would say you are probably more of a gambler than I am. I fear all kinds of situations where if I wait too long to file or pay, then I might forget, or I might become sick or hospitalized, and then I'm sunk. Of course, if you don't pay on time, the worst thing right off that the IRS (or your state's revenue office) can do to you is to issue a fine, so it's not really that bad of a situation. But if you can avoid the fine, pay on time!

As far as filing goes, you can still use software like TurboTax to submit your returns, and even eFile using the software. If you owe money, and have not transmitted your return, you will more than likely need to request an extension today, since it's the last day, but it's fine to pay online via eFTPS.gov (for the IRS) or OfficialPayments.com (for the IRS and your state's revenue system), and not have to use the extension.

If you want to go old-school, and your return isn't too difficult to figure, then there's always the paper returns. Enter your information, determine the amount you and your family owe, and submit your return.

If you haven't yet filed or mailed your tax payment, do be sure to do it today! Regardless of whether you agree with where your tax money is spent, or whether you think the government does a good job of spending the money, we all have to pay our share. On a personal note, I had to pay a fairly large amount into our state, but (and this is just my opinion), paying the state doesn't bother me as much since I can more readily see what they are spending our tax dollars on. Anyway, the percent in tax we pay might not seem fair at times, but it is what it is, and I do believe that we can attempt to change the things we don't like by voting on the right people to fix the issues we don't agree with.
