There are a few drawbacks to the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens, but they are negligible at best. The bokeh has a tendency with bright highlights to clearly show a pentagon due to the 5 blade construction of the diaphragm and can appear a bit rough at times. The body of the lens itself is constructed of plastic, but with proper care this shouldn’t be a problem for anybody.
